I have been in love with photography for as long as I can remember. It was magic to me when my father would hold a polaroid camera up to his eye, push a button, then rip the film out of its side, then tear the back away, and there would be a black & white picture of me! Yes "instant" cameras were a bit more complicated back then, my mother choice was the Kodak Instamatic. She was a bit more patient, trading a wait of a week or so for color photos. The seeds were sewn and I have been hooked ever since. It would take about 35 more years though before I would finally set up my first darkroom. That was in 1999, and I have been at it ever since. I have recently made a transition to mostly digital and will be adding those new images as I complete them. All images seen will be available in the digital format. Film images will still be available and printed in the darkroom, or with the inkjet printer.
I was always enamored with the work of Ansel Adams, then discovered Edward Weston, Paul Strand, and Alfred Stieglitz. I have come to favor working with the Human Form in recent years. This began when I walked into the Radiant Light Gallery of Portland Maine. The images of human figures lined the walls and I was inspired to try making my own. The owner, Thom Adams encouraged me, and within a few weeks I brought him a few prints, and was invited by him to be in a show. Good feedback followed and I have been at it ever since. |
